Hi all, Falost here, hmm even though several month (last year) ago I write an entry about "game review", actually, we didn't do it properly, well u see, 2 post in like almost a year, "lack of staff" problem actually, since the majority plays VN, not console game, and I lack of time, the ps3 controller never let go of me (currently play Atelier Meruru ), but anyway, lets start with not-so-fresh-but-also-not-too-old-games, well, not fresh from the oven, but still edible type of game, one of the 2012 games by capcom, Dragon

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
An action RPG, hack and slash type of game, basically, according to me, a typical western RPG, like dragon age or skyrim, with a vast open world fantasy land to explore, various side quest, armors, and giant monster, especially giant dragon-type monster, the story u ask? Its all about a human who his heart was taken by a dragon, and live as and Arisen, the main story will be about his quest to defeat the dragon to save his country and reclaim his heart back, isnt that simply like the other dragon-medieval-age-themed-action-rpg? well, only actually after you manage to kill the dragon, the true story began, the story of endless circle of Arisen, the Dragon, and the Seneschal....

STORY :
(+) Well, the prologue will tell you what happen hundreds years ago to another Arisen, after that, your story begin, the story is fresh, aside from your everyday quest-to-kill-a-dragon, the post game is unexpected, (spoiler, i write in in WHITE)
u never expect that the dragon is actually another arisen who unable to defeat the seneschal and ordered to find a new arisen that capable to defeat and give a rest to immortal soul of senechal, and become new seneschal that works eternally (untill another arisen defeat you). You can discover the truth about your kingdom, and choose how you handle the dragon (effect the ending) , u can improve your relationship with npc around the cities, by taking quest and giving gift (effect the ending too).
(-) Like other typical western RPG, you will have to play sidequest in order to get complete and enjoyable stories, and some quest and story are DLC, your choices of action only give effect a little to people around you, so one time you can be brutal and other time be a nice guy and no one care.
(?) You only have to kill one dragon during the story, where other require you to kill some, you can speak to the dragon without learn dragon language, heart-to-heart-connection, aside from the dragon, you have to confront numbers of mystical beast like griffin, org, gollem and etc, its interesting that in this story, there are pawns that plays part as players servant, comes from other dimension and have no other purpose but to help the Arisen. Since the story originally comes from japanese writer, the story doesnt give us to much refrence to read (like in skyrim, for example)
In short, I love the story, so I give it 9 out of 10
GAMEPLAY:
(+) First of all, the
vocation, the job, in this game you can actually switching class freely in the main city inn, there are first job like fighter (knight types), strider (thief), and mage ( works as a healer in this game), advance vocation like, Warrior (2handed brute), Ranger (Long range master) and Soccerer (powerfull magic), and hybrid vocation like Mystic Knight, Magic Archer, and Hunter. You can create main pawns (AI servants), and recruit 2 more from realm (from online player for better status and equipment (especially people who buy item from ps store lol) ) , you can change the main pawns job freely too. In
character creation, your character appearance also effecting the status, like small body better runs but low item capacity, but I didnt know how bust size effecting the status lol. In
battle u can grab and climb the enemy body, which important since almost every huge enemy have a weak spot, and if u play using melee vocation, u cant reach it otherwise, in battle u can give commands like attack, support and follows. Pawns can do supportiv action such as lift you to the sky or taunting the enemies.
(-) the land is vast, but there is only 2 cities, and only one default city to teleport, especially for the first game, and you need to run, run, run, and stop, to rest, and run again, for new player, the enemy can be so powerful, like in dark souls, 2 hit death, but for developed chara, since the enemy never changes, but your level up and acquire better arms, that the enemy will be too easy, even the post game battle would only be a breeze, and you'll bored to death since the repetitive enemy spawn (especially in the first playthrough since you mostly will go off foot) , and there is no specific command, so if your lucky the pawns AI will move as u desired, but most of the time, ...no
(?) Sometimes it happen to me conflict between creating chara that looks perfect or have most suitable psychical trait lol. In this game, there is night and day, not only the expired quest, your food will expired over time too, but down worry, there is food everywhere. Since I never really put effort to improve my relationship, I ends up getting pedophile to a little girl (in game, not RL lol) in the last part of game. In second game, you can have up to 10 portable portals, so game will be so much easier. In the night the zombie enemies looks like survival horror games, and enemies sometimes react to specific condition, like ogre/troll who excited by woman scent from your female party members. And if your level to low in post game, u can start the new game+ right away, by suicide.
hmmm I'll give it 7 out of 10
ART:
Little to say, the environment is good, the enemies are detailed, the armor desain is good, but honestly, there is no japanese armor or weapon, why?????? even though I created japanese-samurai-type of chara, hmmm, the ideas of enemies, the concept, the difference between night and day, I'd say it was a good job, but, i could have been better, so, I give it 9 out of 10
MUSIC
Its simply fantastic, I love the opening, the BGM, it matches the enviroment and circumstances perfectly, and in some area, somehow bgm reminds me to some final fantasy ost, I simply love it, I give it perfect score! 10!
OVERALL
its satisfying, especially if u beat the post game, but after the first playthrough, the game just too easy and you will get bored right away, but you can start over by choosing different job, and collecting ps trophies lol, but then you will bore soon after that, I believe that this game replaying qualities drop significantly after first playthrough for people who loves challenges but not for those who loves to slay weak being or simply enjoys killing lol, just my opinion, but seriously, SORE NARA OMAE WA "S" DA !
-my first playthrough score : (9+7+9+10)/4 = 8.75
-second playthrough = 8.75 - 3 = 5.75, 3rd = 1.75, and soon.....
In closing, this game worth buying, and after one playthrough, its worth selling, believe me...
